Especially for a large corporation who marketed the shit out of this game and whose 2013 E3 presentation was all about "check out how many indies we're supporting!". Additional troubleshooting information here. Hello Games did have a PR rep: it was Sony.
None. It's like Titanfall. There is a collection of gamers who feel not only misled by the game, but actively angry at features that were discussed before the game’s release and are now nowhere to be seen.
@sloppydetective: on a recent bombcast Adam Boyes said he'd played 20 hours of NMS (while at Sony) some months ago. 1. As a result, the web page can not be displayed.
Edit: "Suggestion" doesn't seem like the right flair, but whatever. Sony did more than just kick in money to make it exclusive. As for the price... Well I think COD shouldnt be $60, why cause I don't play the MP therefore $60 dollars seems to high for a 4 hour SP campaign. I would argue both of those pieces are mandatory if you want to be an informed member of this conversation. Please actually look stuff up and don't just follow what's said loudest.
His response was quite indignant, clearly furious that Eurogamer dared imply that such a small indie game could harm the obviously superior PlayStation. After a Sony vice president stoked hype by stating that No Man's Sky was "potentially one of the biggest games in the history of our industry", Sony President Shuhei Yoshida, is now throwing Hello games under the bus somewhat (or at least trying to establish distance from the developer) by saying the following, "I understand some of the criticisms especially Sean Murray is getting, because he sounded like he was promising more features in the game from day one. Sony : The reviews of your game should be finalized within the week.
@sloppydetective: Its just down to human judgement as far as Sony stepping in goes. i suppose that can be true- it's just a feeling i find completely alien. Uh huh, so if hello games didn't have a PR person helping them, how on earth did they end up on all those talkshows and various junkets then?
perhaps..? I know there are lists and shit of the things "promised" that NMS didn't deliver, but much of the "hype" for this game was external. Hard to blame them when they lost a year of work to flooding. A reddit thread detailing the difference between the game that was discussed and the game that was launched has become legendarily in the No Man’s Sky community, with the post ultimately removed when the author deleted his account.
I would argue that many, if not most, of the many people who purchased the game either enjoyed it, are still enjoying it or put on the back burner, or don’t like it as much as they thought they would and have shrugged at it before moving onto other things.
And here I am upset about it.
They did marketing (of which you missed as I said above) and which also means PR... which they are completely throwing Hello Games under the bus regarding.
This isn't always a bad thing, but sometimes fans can demand a little too much of you and your creativity. Sony Pictures The hub for your favourite movies and TV shows.
If they were just honest about what was being cut from the game I would be disappointed but not angry about it. How Casual Gaming Saved Us During Quarantine, RDR2 Cheats, Codes, Cheat Codes - Xbox One, GTA V Cheats, Codes, Cheat Codes - Xbox One. @mellotronrules: I haven't purchased the game yet, but I'm angry at the situation. Sony isn't in the business of pushing out unfinished games. What the hell did you guys at Sony do for Hello Games, then? When did. No Man’s Sky’s story is being written by its haters, Animal Crossing fans are making run-down islands on purpose, Cyberpunk 2077 delayed again, won’t arrive until December, The new release date is Dec. 10, and the delay applies to all platforms, New Pokémon character immediately crowned gay icon by fans, The making of Avatar 2 looks like absolute hell, James Cameron tossed his cast into the deep end of performance capture, Teens are using Mario Kart music to finish last-minute homework, It’s anxiety-inducing, and that’s the point.
As much as I find Yoshida's comments from nearly a month ago distasteful, the responses to that tweet are utterly ruthless and twisted, and I can kinda see how maybe nobody knows the right thing to say publicly to that horde of frothy-mouthed aggrieved gamers under these circumstances. Pretty much, i remember when it was first announced for 60$ and a lot of people on this site were shocked lol. Someone at Sony dropped the ball and missed the opportunity to reign things in and get the hype under some kind of control. Nope.
I thought the support Sony gave was standard stuff and the buzz just went crazy on its own. A personal connection with fans can sometimes turn into an additional pressure to finish the game and get it out there, and surely Sony was putting pressure on PlayStation's indie darling to release ASAP, as well.
Sony wasn't funding development. I get the sense that a similar thing happened with ReCore, and I'm not exactly livid at MS for letting that game out the door (despite really wanting that game to be GOTY good).
So Sony's people were playing the game well ahead of release and *must have known* that the expectation-to-reality gap was dangerously big. Blaming Sony makes about as much sense as blaming MS for shortcomings of Titanfall. Murray had been a developer at Electronic Arts prior and had grown tired of developing repeated sequels, and decided to leave to form his own studio to make a game he always wanted to make, Joe Danger , which was the studio's first release in 2010.
